Part Time Childcare Coordinator Sought

Summary:
Part-time position. To provide hands-on leadership and support predominately to the ministry of children ages birth – 4 year olds in a caring and nurturing manner. In addition, provide hands-on leadership and support in the same manner to older children upon request. Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings required. Must be available year round and attendance is of high importance.

Erin Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest and fastest growing churches in the Presbytery of East Tennessee. We are a very welcoming, creative, musical and mission-driven congregation. In response to our steady growth we are in the planning stage of an impressive multi-phase expansion of the physical building while simultaneously seeking a motivational and inspirational Christian Education Coordinator. We are blessed with talented teachers and volunteers and a great number of wonderful and creative children and youth and are looking for an energetic coordinator to help us maximize our potential. Our congregation is excited to welcome a new staff member.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the childcare provider in the infant room
- Coordinate with the Christian Education Coordinator, Administrative Assistant and Discipleship team to provide effective training for team members
- Ensure that both nursery rooms are equipped for Sunday and Wednesday programs
- Oversee a team of volunteers who can help carry out essential functions of ministry for this age group
- Maintain supply inventory in order to operate ministry area in keeping within provided budget
- Coordinate room use and policy and procedures
Communication
- Communicate with volunteers, parents and children
- Ensure that all volunteers serving in this ministry are adequately trained, cared for and appreciated
Team Member
- Attend monthly team meetings for discussion, evaluation and sharing of vision and needs of the ministry
- Meet regularly with the Christian Education Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for scheduling, evaluation and sharing of vision and needs of the ministry
- Interest in commitment to a team management approach
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in carrying out assignments to completion.
- Excellent communication / customer service skills and ability to be able to interface with children, parents, team members and church staff.
- The ability to effectively and accurately communicate and deal with non-routine matters, such as special meetings.
- CPR certification or willingness to receive certification.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency; college degree preferred
- Minimum 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to:
- use hands and reach with arms
- hold children; able to lift 50 pounds
- be able to oversee playground activity
- sit on the floor
- clean the nursery facility
- arrange children’s furniture
