The church celebrates Easter for forty days (another set of 40 days!) when Jesus was with his disciples after the resurrection. Our texts challenge us to imagine what the resurrection means in our lives. In a broken world, how do we live as those for whom death does not have the final world? Resurrection is physical and concrete: John’s community of John speaks of “what we have seen with our eyes…touched with our hands,” following Thomas’ witness of Jesus’ wounds. The early church in Acts shares their possessions. How do our lives concretely reflect the new life of resurrection?
