This week our texts focus on the mystery of God’s glory, as we lead up to the gospel story of Jesus’ transfiguration. This is always the last Sunday before Lent begins – the disciples see Jesus in all his glory, unveiled, as it were, revealed as the chosen one of God. We also read texts of Moses coming down the mountain, his face veiled because it shines too brightly after receiving the law from God. These images of brightness and joy carry us through the contemplative time of Lent, a promise that God’s glory still shines through darkness.
