Our gospel lesson next Sunday launches Jesus’ ministry, with his first sign in John’s gospel, at the wedding in Cana. This joyful, celebratory miracle points to the abundance of God’s love. That’s a confidence reflected in our Psalms, which stress the power of God’s justice over wickedness, in Isaiah, which promises that God’s people will have names that reflect his care for them; and in Corinthians, where Paul lifts up the various gifts of the Spirit to the whole church.
