Our texts center on a seldom-read story of the serpent Moses holds up, which has miraculous power to cure snake bites. John sees this as an allegory of Jesus’ death – we are healed by looking to the cross. People of faith have always tried to put into words the experience of salvation, but, ultimately, we can’t describe the depth of God’s love. The Psalm recounts all kinds of rescues and calls all voices to praise. Paul reminds us that salvation comes through grace and not effort. How do you express your praise for Christ’s work in your life? What words, or actions, do you use?
