This week marks Ascension, 40 days after Easter, when Jesus is taken up into heaven. It feels like Jesus’ graduation or a transition in actors in a play: the stage is cleared, to get ready for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Now the church is Jesus’ main presence in the world. At Ascension, we focus on Jesus, who knows our early struggles, sitting at the right hand of God. It’s poetry more than logic. What does this story say to you?
