Wee Word for Lent – Day 31 – Friday
John 9:4-5 “As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (NIV)
We are going through a dark time, so sometimes the outlook seems bleaker than it actually is. Our thoughts can become fearful and we end up believing the worst will happen. This causes us anxiety which again fuels our fears and causes us to worry. We lose sleep and our relationships can be fractured. We wonder if things will ever be the same and what the world will be like in a post-pandemic age. All this uncertainty wearies us. Where is hope?
Look at today’s verses again. Those are Christ’s words. He says that while I am in the world, I am the Light of the world. Even in the midst of darkness, Christ is still with us. Even in a helpless world, His Spirit is here to lead us through this tunnel of turmoil into the presence of His Light.
Yes, things will never be the same. We will be much more prepared for any future pandemic, but we will also know that Christ is always here with us, as well as ahead of us, as our guiding Light and True Savior.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, take us through these times and lead us onward to Your Light. Lessen our worries by building our faith. In Your Holy Name, we simply pray. Amen.
