Dec 01 – Reading: Psalm 80:1-7
Psalm 80:7 Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. (NIV)
If ever there was a year that we needed the Lord to save us, it is surely 2020. We all had hopes, resolutions, and dreams on January 1, but as the year has progressed, we’ve had to alter our lifestyles, routines, work, and worship. We wonder if we will ever get back to where we once were and are anxious about what lies ahead in 2021.
Advent is a special time when we look forward to the completion of history with Christ’s return. This means that no matter what we are presently enduring, God will accomplish all that needs to be done. Ultimately, when we pray to be saved from our present circumstances, we’re faithfully placing our lives and future into God’s hands. God is in control and the Holy Spirit is always with us, therefore, we need not fear the future, for through Christ, we are safe forevermore.
Q: What do I fear the most? How can Christ help me overcome this?
Prayer: Lord God Almighty, make Your face shine on us, that we may be restored and saved. Amen.
