Next week the youth will lead worship around the theme of “A New Song for the Future.” These lectionary texts encourage us to ponder the future God desires for all his beloved. The Joseph Saga in Genesis 37-50 is wonderful storytelling, which culminates in the declaration that God was working constantly for his people’s future. Paul helps us imagine resurrection – the promised future of life in the face of death. And in Luke Jesus teaches how we might live together in the present, for a future that reflects God’s will.
