Hi Folks,

Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (NIV)

The purpose of forgiveness from God is to grant us the opportunity to start again. Many of us get stuck in the past because of something shameful, foolish, or sinful that we have done. As the years pass, the regret and guilt that we carry can cause our spirits to be both diminished and depressed, ruining any hopes or dreams that we once wanted to fulfill. We wallow in the misery of unconfession which burdens us with sadness and sorrow.

This is why God is willing to step back into our lives when we truly confess our faults to Him. He allows us to honestly tell Him our troubles and prayerfully express our regrets, so that God can begin the divine process of wiping us clean of the past and presenting us with renewal. As the apostle Peter declared long ago, ‘times of refreshing’ will be given to us, permitting us to let go of our sorrowful mistakes and begin again. We all know that we don’t deserve this, but we are also aware that this gift from God is what we really need.

So, let’s all take a moment to ponder the chief mistakes in our lives and to prayerfully confess our part in what went wrong. None of us are perfect, but through Christ’s grace, we can approach the God who is, in order to receive forgiveness and correction, refreshment and redirection right now.

Q: What past mistakes have I left unconfessed and unresolved with God?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Your sacrifice allows us to repent of our past regrets and to receive God’s blessing of refreshment for our hearts and minds, bodies and souls. Hear us now as we quietly bring our confessions to You. In Your Holy Name, we humbly, yet confidently, pray. Amen.
